I see that there are a lot of Brian Jones fans that have recently signed onto my site so I am updating this post.  Please enjoy.  The above pic was snapped on our Martin 404 charter for the US tour, while we whiled away the time and has nothing to do with the story other than it shows us all at a peaceful time.  Now for the story:

We were in Miami, I believe it was the Fountainbleau and they had ski doo’s for guests to take out into the ocean. The ski doo’s were the ones that you sat on like motorcycles. I recall Brian , Anita Pallenburg, Keith,  and  I getting  one. There were a few markers about 100 yards out  in the ocean and we were instructed to stay within the boundries of these buoy’s. Anita seemed to think we were playing bumper boats as she was basically ramming everyone..she charged my ski doo and rode up and over my left side and foot..Needless to say the boat operator’s were upset and whistled us in, we heard them scream that we would shortly be running out of gas and should head into shore..We headed in. When we got to shore we realized that Brain wasn’t with us. We turned and saw him heading straight out into the ocean on this little ski doo. To this day I see his back silhouette riding out into the ocean with a flock of seagulls over his head.. off into the sunset!! The vendors sent a boat out to get him. When he got to shore we asked,”What were you doing, where did you think you were going?”. Brian looked at us and innocently said..”I was following the birds..”.  I loved that and still remember it well.

PS..It cost us over $350.00 to fix the boat that Anita cracked..

Ronovan, Ronald or whatever… At the time I was also working with Donovan, and I didn’t like my name Ronald.. my uncle and everybody called me Ronnie..(I hate that as well)

Unpleasant character…that speaks for itself

Mankie’s Wanker.. As Gered Mankowitz was my ‘roommate’ on the road(to save money on motels) I used to tease him..no further detail at this time..

Beautiful Reamer….. my best friend in school -high and college, both noticed that no one pays attention to the majority of what anyone says, so instead of a hand shake and a hello when you first meet someone, we gave a hand shake and said “Ream” (referring to the sexual ream).  99.999% of the people, smile and say hello back, never acknowledging the ‘ream’.  Brian acknowledged this.

Walkie Hawkie Doll… another reference to a (this is going to be hard to describe as you had to be there and it is lost in translation ‘well not so much translation as sounding childish but what was, was..’) thing we did.. and that thing was called ‘hawking’.  Basically, a guy would unzip his pants and –see the illustration that Brian drew..(the Jewish star was also a reference to the fact that I would tease him after the release of his “Nazi photo stepping on the baby doll.”–I’d say that as a Jew I would ‘get him’) and a further reference to me being an unpleasant character.

A preposterous New Year… all said he was a very loving guy..

Ahh Brian..I remember when he got the dulcimer and used to sit and compose. Prior to his dying (or murder) he was into African drumming and was working on a different kind of music. there is a sweet shot of Brian playing monopoly on my site as well as a shot of all of us at Ondine’s after the Ed Sullivan show.. Brian is bandaged because he got pushed thru the glass door of the theater while we waited for them to unlock the door..
