Hi or as we used to say…high?
I just came from dinner with Albert Maysles, he is in LA for the Emmy’s and his success with GREY GARDENS. We were doing what people after a long period of time after a major event and working together do–reminiscing, refreshing and validating old memories without having the filter of “what will they think of me when I say this”–it is the time of revelations of what really was happening and what people were thinking and saying behind your back. We talked about the lies / misrepresentations / urban myths and general lack of responsibility that are fostered by the majority of the press Albert said that I should finally tell what really was happening as I was one of the principle characters.. In the past I didn’t care who knew the truth -I lived it and did the deals and that was enough for me, but Albert struck a chord… I owe it to my kids and the facts.
So, I will attempt at various times to recount some of my memories..and post them here. A goal being –the actual truth about the ’69 tour and Altamont for the most part (since I was with the Boys for 7 years I will also recount some of those great memories)
